2008 - 2009 Scholarship Information:
Student Information/Application

Deadline:

For the 2008-09 academic year applications for the Alpha Sigma Lambda Adult Education Foundation are divided into two separate and distinct categories with separate time frames.

Please note the postmark restrictions for your institution and follow the guidelines carefully to ensure eligibility of your application(s).

Criteria for Evaluation:

Scholarship, leadership, personal statement, faculty recommendation and financial need are the criteria considered in choosing the recipients.

Because each institution may submit only two (2) applications, students are required to submit their materials to the ASL Chapter Councilor at the matriculating institution.

To determine where and by what date your application must be submitted at your institution, please view the Chapter Directory and click on your state on the map. A list of member institutions with contact information for each institution will appear. Call or email the contact person listed for your institution.

Student Application Instructions

Complete all parts of the application packet. Use only paper clips to secure your papers.

Application Parts:

  1. The application form (typed or printed in black ink)
  2. One current official transcript of your academic work in a sealed envelope.
  3. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the institution where you are currently enrolled.
  4. A cover sheet completed and signed by the ASL National Counselor at your institution.

It is preferred that all information be typed and in black ink. Please use only paper clips, no staples. Use only the forms provided in this packet. The exception is that the faculty recommendation must be on official university letterhead. Missing items or materials submitted in other formats will result in disqualification.

Notification of awards will be in June, 2008.

Application Submission:

Submit 3 copies of the application to the Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter councilor at your institution, with sufficient time for review, verification and submission with a postmark no later than the designated date. You need only one official transcript in a sealed envelope. The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Office will make additional copies of transcripts.

Please note the postmark restrictions for your institution and follow the guidelines carefully to ensure eligibility of the application(s).

Only Chapter Councilors may forward application packets to the National Office after verifying your GPA, completed hours at the institution, and other required information. You may not forward your own packets.
