CCAR Offers More Than Pack and Ship
Alpha Sigma Lambda has contracted with CCAR Industries in Charleston, IL to complete our order fulfillment services for membership certificates and cards as well as the other products offered to our members. This successful arrangement has been on-going since October 2002. CCAR Industries is a rehabilitation agency serving a four-county area in east central Illinois. The primary purpose of the Manufacturing Plant component of CCAR Industries is to provide vocational training and employment for individuals with disabilities. This goal is achieved through several available programs such as vocational evaluation, vocational development, supported employment, and placement services.
The consumers within the Manufacturing Plant component of CCAR Industries pull and pack our products based on the faxed orders from our main office on Campus. Once the orders are packaged and labeled they are returned to the EIU mailroom for shipment to our members.
The consumers involved in this operation derive great satisfaction from knowing that the products that they have prepared for order fulfillment are reaching colleges and universities all over the country. As stated in the CCAR Industries mission statement their goal “is to enhance the lives of individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or other functional limitations.” And Alpha Sigma Lambda is proud of our involvement in the effort to achievement that goal.
