On the Saturday morning prior to Thanksgiving week, each year, this Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter assembles gift baskets and goes shopping with the gift cards and monetary donations they’ve received so they can make the holiday special for families in their community.
The Eta Lambda members are the originators of this project at Providence College and are at the forefront every year, for nearly 20 years, creating a Thanksgiving tradition for the chapter! “We have been very successful, and it’s really fun to do!” Anne Nagle, Assistant Dean of School of Continuing Education at Providence College and Alpha Sigma Lambda Treasurer.
The Eta Lambda Thanksgiving food drive is running through Friday, 11/16 and is collecting canned and boxed goods, grocery store gift cards, and monetary donations.
If you are interested in donating, please send donations to:
School of Continuing Education office, Harkins Hall Room 109, PC, 1 Cunningham Square,
Providence, RI 02918.
They are hoping to collect enough donations for 20 complete dinner baskets, including turkeys which will then be delivered to a local social service agency and distributed to families that are in need in the Providence, Rhode Island area through D.A.R.E. (Direct Action for Rights and Equality) located on Lockwood Street. Learn more about this project: http://bit.ly/2OodOl0 Have questions? Email anagle (at) providence.edu or call 401-865-2817.
